Whether it's a Dogwood, Silver Birch, Wild Cherry, Hawthorn, Rowan or Hazel you have acquired from us, please see guidance below for planting your new tree.
1. FILL YOUR APPROPRIATE SIZED CONTAINER TO THE TOP WITH COMPOST; CREATING A HOLE AT THE CENTRE JUST DEEP ENOUGH FOR THE ROOT BALL TO FIT COMFORTABLY.
2. REMOVE THE TREE FROM THE CURRENT POT AND POSITION THE ROOT BALL IN THE HOLE, WITH THE BASE OF THE STEM LINING UP WITH THE TOP OF THE SOIL. IF IT IS PLANTED TOO DEEP OR TOO SHALLOW THE ROOTS WILL SUFFER.
3. BACKFILL AROUND THE ROOTS WITH A NUTRIENT RICH MIXTURE OF SOIL AND COMPOST. FIRM DOWN TO SECURE THE TREE.
4. PLACE A STAKE IN THE SOIL AND BIND APPROPRIATELY TO SUPPORT THE TREE. PROTECT WITH A TREE GUARD OR SPIRAL SURROUND IF POSSIBLE.
5. WATER WELL REGULARLY & TRANSFER TO A LARGER POT IN THE FUTURE FOR MORE EXTENSIVE GROWTH.
1. DIG A HOLE IN THE EARTH; AS DEEP AS THE ROOT BALL AND ALMOST TWICE AS WIDE. SET ASIDE THE SOIL TO RETURN AROUND THE TREE LATER.
REPEAT STEPS 2-5 FROM ABOVE.
We love seeing the success people have with their new saplings, so feel free to keep us in the loop with how they grow.
